INTENT
At Hampstead Norreys and The Ilsleys Primary School, we believe art to be one of the keys to a well-rounded education.  Art inspires children of all ages to embrace experimentation, creativity, inventiveness, imagination and freedom of expression.  The staff at both schools believe that art enables children to communicate what they say, think and feel.  The Art curriculum also supports children in their exploration of different countries and cultures.  The Art curriculum covers the following key areas
 
Developing and evaluating ideas
Mastering different techniques
Taking inspiration from the greats
 
Disadvantaged children and those with SEND are given full access to the art curriculum. Teachers use a range of strategies to enable all children to become successful artists including:
 
Modify lesson plans to remove barriers so all pupils meet the same objectives
Provide children with a range of opportunities to show their understanding
Dual coding of key vocabulary
